OCC Group Fitness Class Descriptions
Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens
me.”
Ministry Fitness Instructors Kay Kamuf & Theresa Rowe will begin each
class with a warm up for the spirit by reading the Word of God and
praying with the students. Kay and Theresa will help you take care of
your body (temple of the Holy Spirit) by dedicating each class to God
our heavenly Father.
Zumba: Zumba is a high energy cardio class that incorporates unique
moves and motivating Latin and Christian music.
Zumba
utilizes the principles of fitness interval training and resistance
training to maximize caloric output, fat burning and total body toning.
It is a mixture of body sculpting movements with easy to follow steps.
Zumba Gold Cardio: This class will increase your cardiovascular &
energy level with a dynamic cardio class for older adults. Participants
will have fun as they increase their functional skills for improving
daily living activities. In addition, a chair can be used for those who
need to modify the work out. This class is perfect for every level of
fitness including those who have arthritis, fibromyalgia, MS, and
chronic fatigue syndrome.
Senior Strength: This class offers seated and standing strength,
endurance and stretching exercises. Upper and lower body strength work
using hand held weights, tubing with handles, resistance bands and a
ball. A chair is offered for support. This class is designed to
increase strength, flexibility and range of movement and activity for
daily living. This strength training class is great for new mothers as
well as those recovering from an injury.
Cardio Soul & Strength: You will enjoy this fat burning
cardiovascular workout that builds strength/stamina. This high-energy
interval training class combines athletic aerobic movements with
strength & stabilization exercises that work every major muscle in your
body. If your heart and lungs need a good work out, this is the class
for you.
Cardio Power Pump: Improve your bone density and increase your
metabolism while lowering blood pressure and cholesterol levels. This
class is a weight-based exercise class that works every major muscle
group in the body using weights, a bar, exercise ball, balance disc, & a
step. It strengthens, conditions, and tones muscles, producing amazing
results-fast.
Pilates Mat & Props: This is the perfect spirit, mind, and body
workout. Concentration is on the core and power house muscles to
gain/maintain a healthy spine & back. Engage your muscles, mind &
spirit for a total body transformation. Some of the props that may be
used in this class include; a stability ball, stretch band, weights, &
balance disc. Pilates is an excellent way to stay I shape before,

Kay Kamuf
Zumba Instructor
Kay Kamuf is a member of
Owensboro Christian Church and a certified Zumba
instructor. When Zumba was first introduced to the
Owensboro area Kay knew in her heart that God had called her
to teach this high energy cardio class as a form of
worship to glorify him. Kay believes that we are to
worship God with dancing as Psalm 149:3 beautifully states.
"Let them praise his name with dancing."
She will also teach
Zumba Gold to the active older adults who want to have fun
and enjoy dancing and moving while worshipping him. Kay
will be using Latin and Christian music to motivate you to
exercise. Kay began instructing Zumba classes in January of
2008 at the Rec Center.
